As a modern and forward-looking company, we are well aware of our responsibilities towards the environment. This is why we do everything we can to reduce our CO2 emissions. We aim to reduce our CO2 emissions by 2% a year, compared to our reference year of 2010.
Over the past couple of years, we have been replacing all of our fluorescent lighting with LED lighting, switching off hydraulic pumps when our machines are not in use, turning off energy guzzling drinking machines and we aim to create a more environmentally friendly fleet of vehicles. Our management system has been certified by KIWA and we now have a level 3 CO2 Awareness Certificate.
Steel is a sustainable material in itself. It is easy to recycle. At the moment, more than 80% of all girders are made from scrap metal. The new steel maintains its properties and remains suitable for high-quality applications. Steel production also takes place in a way that contributes to a sustainable society. Industrial steel is manufactured under controlled circumstances, during which by-products such as blast furnace cement and gas are reused. Moreover, continuous innovations in production techniques and methods are resulting in a permanent reduction in emissions and energy consumption.
