The 600 metre long Kerensheide flyover at Geleen is a spectacular, curved link road (A2 and A76) in the Netherlands. The flyover’s pre-stressed driving surface was built in eleven stages and is approximately 600 metres long with a horizontal curve radius of 300 metres. Spans of up to 57 metres combined with stainless steel edgings ensure that the flyover integrates strikingly with the surroundings. A great project in terms of its design, preparation and construction, with a total lead time of 2.5 years. Van den Bersselaar developed a method to place the stainless panels in their final position undamaged. They built mounting vehicles with lifting tools. These vehicles were driven over rails on the recently concreted deck, which enabled work to be carried out safely above moving motorway traffic.
